Two victims luckily escape with minor injuries after their car suddenly plunges into 10-foot-deep hole prepared for underground cables in Bangkok

Bangkok –

A Thai female driver, 70, and her 25-year-old son survived with minor injuries after their car suddenly plunged into a hole built for installing underground cables in the Thonburi district of Bangkok yesterday night, April 8th.

The Talad Plu Police along with volunteer rescue staff arrived at the scene after being alerted of the accident at Ratchada-Thaphra Road Soi 17 in the Talad Plu subdistrict of the Thonburi district around 8:30 PM.

A white sedan was discovered having nosedived into a 10-foot-deep hole, which had been made by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to relocate hanging power cables underground. The rescue volunteers then safely rescued driver Khemakorn Kongthanon and her son Warat Kongthanon from the car. Both were assisted with first aid after suffering from minor injuries.

According to Khemakorn’s statement to the police, she was driving home along Ratchada-Tha Phra Road and saw no construction signs or lighting to indicate construction was undergoing until her car suddenly plunged into the hole.

A lifting crane was brought to the scene to extricate the car from the hole. Meanwhile, officials have contacted the company that was responsible for the construction for interrogation and to discuss compensation for the victims.
