Thailand-

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, has proposed to close all entertainment venues in 41 provinces for at least fourteen days, effective tomorrow. It is important to note this is a proposal, and not yet final and will be debated at a full meeting of the CCSA and relevant agencies early tomorrow morning before a press conference afterward.

This follows our announcement moments ago that Phuket’s communicable disease committee has approved a ten-day closure of entertainment venues, although the final order has not been released and is likely to take place tomorrow as well.

Bangkok had already ordered entertainment venues in three districts closed previously where infections and clusters of Covid-19 had been detected.

The 41 provinces include Bangkok, Udon Thani, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram , Samut Sakhon, Phra Nakhon, Si Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Lopburi, Nakhon Nayok , Chonburi , Rayong , Chanthaburi , Prachin Buri , Chachoengsao , Sa Kaeo , Suphanburi , Kanchanaburi , Ratchaburi , Prachuap Khiri Khan , Phetchaburi , Ranong , Chumphon , Nakhon Si Thammarat,  Phuket , Surat Thani , Songkhla , Yala, Narathiwat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Udon Thani, Buriram, Loei, Chiang Rai, Tak, and Phetchabun. Others may also be added, noted the CCSA.

We will give full details tomorrow as information comes in on these decisions.

Entertainment venues are places like bars, nightclubs, pubs, karaoke, etc. It is “unclear” if massage parlors would be included or if an alcohol sales ban at restaurants would be included.
