Thailand reported 182 domestic infections among a total of 194 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, CCSA deputy spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, April 5th.
The majority of 95 local cases were reported during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, migrant worker’s dormitories, and immigration detention in Narathiwat (Provincial Prison) with 93, Bangkok with 1, and Pathum Thani with 1.
The other 87 infections were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were found in Bangkok with 47, Samut Prakan with 9, Chonburi with 7, Suphanburi with 7, Samut Sakhon with 4, Nonthaburi with 4, Prachuap Khiri Khan with 2, Chaiyaphum with 2, Chumphon with 2, Tak with 1, Samut Songkram with 1, Sa Kaeo with 1, Naratthaiwat with 1, and Pathum Thani with 1.
The rocketing number of infections was mostly connected with two major clusters in entertainment venues in the capital and the Narathiwat prison, according to the deputy spokesperson. The pro-active findings in high-risk and high-contact groups of people are still undergoing by the Department of Disease Control.
Regarding the response to the new cluster from entertainment venues, the CCSA will propose three steps in controlling the spread of Covid-19 to the Center for Economic Administration Situation (CESA) and the big CCSA at the meeting today. The procedures are as follows:
If any pubs, bars, karaoke, and entertainment venues are reported with infections, the place must be temporarily closed immediately for at least 2 weeks in order to control the disease.
If more than one entertainment venues in the same areas are discovered with more infections, all venues in a certain zone will be ordered closure.
But if a large number of infections are widespread in many areas across the province and are considered to be beyond control, the governor, together with the provincial department committee, could implement the temporary closure of the entire province.
As of today, 66 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 29,321 cases with 27,840 recoveries and a total of 94 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
