Chonburi –
An unidentified motorbike driver has been pronounced dead after a female pickup truck driver crashed into him in Panthong, Chonburi, this past weekend.
The Panthong Police was notified of the accident over the past weekend on a rural road in the Bang Nang sub-district.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find an overturned pickup truck and a damaged red and black motorbike.
The unidentified motorbike driver had sustained serious injuries. The driver was initially taken to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The pickup truck driver, who was only identified to the local press as Ms. Atchara, told Thai media, “The pickup truck’s brakes failed and I was unable to stop my vehicle. I then collided with the motorbike driver before overturning. It wasn’t my fault.”
Ms. Atchara was not injured during the accident, despite the damage to her vehicle.
Pan Thong police are reportedly conducting an overall investigation to review the circumstances behind the fatal crash and determine potential legal liability. They are also working on identifying the driver, who had no license or paperwork with them at the time of the accident.
