Chonburi –
A fire suspected to have started from a wall socket with a refrigerator plugged in has destroyed a house, three vehicles, and injured one person in Mueang Chonburi yesterday morning.
The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the fire yesterday from an urgent emergency phone call during the early morning hours (March 31st) at a house in the Nong Ree sub-district.
Firefighters with multiple fire engines along with police, emergency responders, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the fire was still heavily ablaze.
It took about 30 minutes to completely extinguish the fiery blaze. The house, including two tractors and a motorbike, was totally destroyed.
The mother of the house owner, an elderly woman whose name was withheld at the family’s request, had sustained several smoke-related injures from the fire. She was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical assistance.
Mr. Pattarapong Yanprapat, 34, the son of the house owner, told The Pattaya News reporters, “I heard some sparking at a refrigerator wall socket and its electrical plug before the fire started.”
Chonburi forensic police are continuing a full and detailed investigation, according to their statement to Pattaya News reporters, to find the exact cause of the fire. As seen in the photo above, the family also successfully rescued their dog, who was not injured during the blaze. It was not immediately made clear if the family had insurance that would cover the extensive damages caused by the flames.
