The Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Eakkasing told local news media, âWe strictly told the organizers to pay attention for safety-related issues.â
âThere were many people joining the surf-skate. The organizers might not have had enough staffers to keep eyes on everyone.â Ronnakit added.
âWe called the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to help them as we had made a special âMemorandum of Understanding (MOU)â with the hospital for injuries during events.â Ronnakit explained.
âThose injuries were covered under the âUniversal Coverage for Emergency Patients (UCEP) policyâ. The Government is paying for their medical fees at no cost to the injured young skaters. â Ronnakit continued
âHowever each of their operations cost about 500,000 baht. We are reviewing the incidents with the organizers and also touching base with similar skating events on the importance of safety standards and wearing protective equipment.â Ronnakit concluded.
