Ban Bueng –
A young couple has sustained injuries after a pickup truck accident in Ban Bueng while they were heading to a hospital following a domestic dispute between the two.
Emergency responders were notified of the accident yesterday in the early morning (March 22nd) on Ban Nueng Pattana Road.
They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a beige pickup truck had crashed head-on into a black SUV, which had been parked on the road in front of the owner’s home.
The SUV owner, Ms. Manassanan Pamapan, age not given, told The Pattaya News, “I was inside my home watching television. I always park my SUV in front of my house and have never had an issue before. I heard something like a sharp strike of lightning which caused me to go outside and discover to my shock that a pickup truck had crashed into my vehicle. I immediately contacted police and medical workers for assistance.”
The pickup truck driver, who refused to give identification or his name to the press but appeared to be in his early 20s, reportedly admitted that he had been arguing with his girlfriend which caused the accident.
According to Ban Bueng police, the driver’s girlfriend, whose name was withheld, had also consumed laundry detergent prior to the accident during the argument with her boyfriend, which led to him taking her to the hospital.
Ban Bueng police stated that both the driver and his girlfriend were receiving treatment for their injuries, as well as the detergent swallowed by the female. Charges of reckless driving causing property damage were also set to take place according to a spokesperson for the Ban Bueng police.
