Phetchabun –

An alleged thief was caught at the scene in a house in the Wichianburi district, Phetchabun Province, yesterday, March 22nd, after he reportedly sneaked into a house and decided to take a nap after feeling tired, tempted by ice-cold air conditioning.

Athit Kinkhunthod, 22, was found sleeping in a bed and covered in a blanket in the bedroom of the homeowner’s daughter when Wichianburi police were alerted of the incident and arrived at the scene. They spent some time calling and poking him before the alleged burglar groggily woke up from the bed.

According to the initial investigation, Athit had been strolling around the area, looking for a house that was easy to break into as of 2:00 AM. He then managed to enter the house in question but he became sleepy when he reached a bedroom that belonged to the daughter of the homeowner who was not currently living at home.

The man then decided to turn on an air conditioner and take a “quick” nap under a blanket. However, he ended up falling asleep for hours until the morning when the homeowner eventually woke up and shockingly discovered him in the bedroom. He then immediately called the police for help. The homeowner, who wasn’t named, stated that he knew something was wrong as his daughter did not currently live at home and they never turned the air conditioning on. He could feel and hear the air-con running from the hallway which was when he entered the bedroom and discovered Athit.

Athit was detained at Wichianburi police station and charged for burglary, intruding an accommodation at night, and causing the loss of property.
