Chonburi –
The Banglamung Public Health Department revealed that the Thai government has agreed to give full support to Covid-19 vaccine distribution in the tourist areas of Thailand, including Chonburi, by this May, preparing to request medical volunteers to perform injections at an average of 3,000 doses per day.
District health chief Sompol Jittireungkiat told reporters yesterday, March 20th, that Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccines would be distributed by the government to five major tourist areas, including Pattaya City of Chonburi, to develop individual immunity for local people, whose names and house were registered in the province, and to build confidence for both local and foreign tourists prior to the country reopening borders.
The chief said: “The vaccination would be provided to all local people with registered domiciles in order to build confidence for both Thai and foreign tourists as the country was planned to reopen in the future. The mass distribution was scheduled to proceed as soon as May.”
Moreover, the department also planned to recruit a considerable amount of medical volunteers and personnel to perform inoculations for more than 100,000 registered Banglamung citizens. It was estimated that about 3,000 people would receive the vaccine per day, according to the initial plan.
The Pattaya News notes that it was not immediately made clear about foreign residents, although officials have previously said that those who have legal residence in the country would be included. However, what that entails has not yet been clarified.
