Pattaya-
Domestic tourist bookings in Pattaya have increased 30 percent during the recent weekends and holidays according to local tourism associations. Additionally, business operators are urging the Thai government to provide at least 70 percent of Thai people in Pattaya vaccines before welcoming vaccinated foreign tourists back to the city without quarantine.
The consultant of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association Mr. Sinchai Wattanasathorn told The Pattaya News, “The number of tourists who visited Pattaya last year at this time just before the first shutdown due to Covid-19 is almost the same as this year’s number.”
“There are many more tourists visiting Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach during the past weekend, giving hope to business operators for the future.” Sinchai continued.
“Pattaya area hotels reported a thirty percent increase recently in overall room bookings as opposed to February. However, most customers have booked five star hotel rooms as the room prices have been significantly decreased to attract customers.” Sinchai explained.
“The Thai government should provide at least 70 percent of Thai people vaccines before welcoming foreign tourists who have a ‘Vaccine Passport’ later this year.” Sinchai stated.
“We are willing to help purchase some of the Covid – 19 vaccines from the private sector if the price is not very high.” Sinchai concluded.
The Thai Government has stated that the first batches of Covid-19 vaccines would not be allowed for private purchase but as supplies increase the government would look again at places like Phuket and Pattaya who wish to purchase vaccines for their own residents to hopefully speed up bringing back foreign tourists.
