RECAP: Thailand reports 144 domestic infections out of 145 new Covid-19 daily cases in past 24 hours, with vast majority in Bangkok following major discovery in Bangkhae markets

Thailand discovered 144 domestic infections out of a total of 145 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported this morning, March 16th.

The majority of 129 local infections were reported during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, and migrant worker’s dormitories in Bangkok with 90, Samut Sakhon with 31, and Pathum Thani with 2. All of them are being isolated at local and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.

The proactive case testing in Bangkhae markets and nearby areas is still ongoing by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to prevent another big cluster of Covid-19 Coronavirus in the country. Nearly all are asymptomatic.

The other 21 infections were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were found in Bangkok with 10, Samut Sakhon with 3, Nakhon Pathom with 3, Ratchaburi with 2, Pathum Thani with 2, and Phetchaburi with 1. Most of them are Thai nationals and asymptomatic. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment.

As of today, 65 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 27,154 cases with 26,299 recoveries and a total of 87 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
