In loving memory of well-known Pattaya ex-pat Michael “MC” Calm

Pattaya, Thailand-

Pattaya lost one of their own over the past weekend when local ex-pat Michael “MC” Calm passed away overnight on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 from a personal medical emergency.

Michael was for anyone who spent time in the bar industry of Pattaya a visible and smiling face, well known by nearly every bar manager in the city and a former bar manager himself at several establishments over the past decade.

Michael, 62, originally from California in America, loved the city of Pattaya and all the characters and people that make it home.

He lived life to the fullest and could always be seen with his favorite beer, Chang, in hand as he visited parties, events, and venues across Pattaya. Michael would always go out of his way to make any birthday, anniversary, or other major event in the city.

Michael didn’t suffer from negativity or complaints about Pattaya and truly loved the city. He also could often be seen on Pattaya Beach at sunset, taking pictures and enjoying a sunset beer. He loved the sunsets in our fair city and always found beauty where many others would often find fault, part of his charm.

Michael loved pictures…sometimes too much, but he loved them and loved being in them and will live on in many fond memories. Social media across the city and groups and message boards have been flooded with tributes and memories over the past weekend as he was one of the most photographed people in the city and it seems nearly everyone had a photo with him at one point.

Michael would not have wanted people to be sad, or upset. In fact, as he had such a joy for life, he would encourage you to live it, stay calm, and have a Chang beer.

He is survived by his mother, sister, brothers, and other relatives in America. Funeral details are as follows:

The funeral service for Michael MC Calm will be held at Wat Chai Mongkron at Pattaya Tai / South Pattaya Road on Tuesday the 23rd of March at 3 pm.

Everyone is welcome to join in celebrating the life of Mike, and there will also be a little gathering on the beach the following day. Details will be provided at the service.

There will be a donation box out for those who want to contribute to all the costs, and if there is any left over the family and those they designated to handle expenses will decide on a charity to donate it to. This is of course absolutely not required but appreciated.

Michael will be missed, but while he was here he was able to make an impact on many of us. Rest in peace Michael.
