Thailand reported 156 domestic infections among a total of 170 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced this morning, March 14th.
A total of 136 local infections were found during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, and migrant worker’s dormitories in Bangkok with 90, Samut Sakhon with 31, Pathum Thani with 10, Phetchaburi with 3, and Narathiwat with 2. They are being isolated at local and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.
The majority of proactive cases in Bangkok were reported at the Bangkhae fresh market. The Bangkok governor has ordered a temporary closure of the market this morning for a proactive disease investigation and a ‘big cleaning’. About 1,400 local vendors and customers at another five major markets in the areas are also being investigated and given Covid-19 tests in a proactive effort.
All 80 of the cases found at the market so far are asymptomatic, according to health officials.
Meanwhile, Public health officials also advised people who had been to the Bangkhae market from February 27th to March 13th to seek a Covid-19 test at their nearest hospitals.
The other 20 cases were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were reported in Samut Prakan with 12, Bangkok with 3, Nakhon Pathom with 3, and Pathum Thani with 2. Most of them are Thai nationals and asymptomatic. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment.
As of today, 68 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 26,927 cases with 26,154 recoveries and a total of 85 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
