Husband and wife arrested in Chonburi, accused of being prominent local drug dealers

Chonburi –

A husband and wife were arrested in Chonburi by the Bor Thong police over the past weekend, with police officers stating that the two were wedded to more than just blissful matrimony…but also the drug trade.

A team from the Bor Thong Police reported they had arrested the couple (The name of the suspects were not given by police) in the Borthong and Tatthong sub-district over the last weekend ending March 7th, 2021.

The arrest came after police had received an anonymous tip-off over the phone that the couple was selling drugs throughout the Chonburi area, primarily to youth, and were prominently involved in the local drug trade.

A police report seen by The Pattaya News stated that they seized 190 methamphetamine pills from the male suspect while police seized 180 methamphetamine pills from the female suspect.

They are facing changes of illegal possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell. It is unknown if the suspects have the services of a lawyer at this time or how they have pled so far.

Meanwhile, police from Chonburi have stated to the local press, including The Pattaya News, that they will continue a provincial-wide crackdown on drugs in the area and are investigating if the two suspects are potentially part of a wider network of drug dealers and smugglers in the region.
