Bangkok, Thailand-
The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in Bangkok announced 82 new cases of Covid-19 at their daily press briefing this morning.
71 of the cases were locally spread with 11 of the cases being imported from people returning to Thailand from overseas, detecting the virus in quarantine where the patient has no exposure to the general public.
Of the 71 cases locally spread, 44 were from proactive testing with 23 in Pathum Thani, 16 in Samut Sakhon, 4 in Bangkok, and 1 in Ang Thong. This is testing done directly in “high-risk” communities and locations like migrant worker camps, factories, entertainment venues, etc.
27 cases were found at hospitals, which are primarily those from either people who were already in a hospital or those contact traced from previous cases. Samut Sakhon had 19 cases, Bangkok, Pathum Thani, and Nakhon Pathom had 2, Ang Thong and Samut Prakan had 1.
Thailand has had a total of 25,323 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the outbreak in Thailand, with 24,129 people fully recovering. There have been a total of 83 deaths, most with pre-existing medical conditions. 1,111 people remain under medical care or observation as in Thailand even asymptomatic people must remain in a hospital or quarantine center and may not self-isolate.
