National –

Thailand discovered 116 domestic infections among 130 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases with one additional death in the past 24 hours, CCSA Deputy spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, February 19th.

A total of 55 domestic cases were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 36, Pathum Thani with 12, and Nakhon Pathom with 7 during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in major factories, fresh markets, and migrant workers’ dormitories. Most of them are migrant workers from Myanmar. All of them are now at provincial state quarantines and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.

The majority of 61 infections were hospital/walk-in cases that were found in Samut Sakhon with 35, Pathum Thani with 10, Bangkok with 7, Ayutthaya with 4, Nakhon Pratom with 3, and Nonthaburi with 2. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment.

The additional death was a physician from Maha Sarakham province who was confirmed dead in the early hours of Thursday. We have reported the case in the recap yesterday.

Due to the death of the medical officer, the deputy spokesperson had encouraged infected patients to disclose their travel histories and detailed timelines in order to prevent the death of medical officers and physicians who are working to reduce the number of Covid-19 infections in Thailand.
