British pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by intoxicated motorbike driver in Pattaya

Pattaya –

A British pedestrian has sustained serious injuries after being hit by a motorbike driver in Pattaya after midnight today (February 19th).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 12:30 A.M. on Jomtien Second Road in Nongprue near the Thepprasit intersection.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the injured man, Mr. Peter Vogel, 76, a British national, lying on the side of the road.

The intoxicated motorbike driver, Mr. Torphon Palasarn, 28, had sustained minor injuries. They were both taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

A witness, Mr. Rattikan Sukmanee, 28, told The Pattaya News, “The foreign man was crossing the road when the motorbike driver, who was driving at high speed and swerving erratically, crashed into him.”

Police are checking CCTV nearby to determine the exact sequence of events for further potential legal action against Mr. Torphon.

Update: Tragically, Mr. Vogel passed away from his injuries at the hospital.
