Thai health officers and police inspect entertainment venues on Pattaya Walking Street, offer free Covid-19 testing

Pattaya, Chonburi –

The Ministry of Public Health along with the Pattaya Police conducted inspections on bars and entertainment venues in Pattaya last night (February 16th) to review Covid-19 protection and health measures.

The inspection was at 10:00 P.M. and was led by the Banglamung Administrative Chief Officer Mr. Phonchai Sangeiad, the Banglamung District Health Office head Mr. Somphon Jittirueangkiet, and The Pattaya City Police.

The inspections were focused on Covid-19 basic protective measures which are Thai Cha-na platform check-ins, hand sanitizer being available, mask-wearing for all staff, and proper social distancing being enforced in the venues.

In addition, officers also reportedly checked if there were any illegal drugs or underage customers or staff. According to Somphon, the measures at the clubs checked on Walking Street were in place and no violations were found. Somphon was pleased with the compliance and work being done by entertainment venues to keep their premises safe, according to his statements.

Mr. Somphon told The Pattaya News, “We are also taking precautions around proactive Covid-19 case finding. Every staffer in entertainment venues is available to be tested at the Banglamung Hospital for free. Additionally, they will be given free treatment if they are found positive with Covid -19.”

Public Health officials registered and signed up multiple staff members to visit the hospital for a free Covid-19 test in the near future, which is part of the current strategy Chonburi and Pattaya are applying. Somphon and the public health officials stated that officials would be visiting more “high-risk” venues around the area and inviting staff (which is optional) to come in for a free Covid-19 test to ensure the area does not have unexpected outbreaks.
