Nakhon Ratchasima –
Thai gambling business tycoon and politician Chatchawal Kong-Udom, aka Chat Taopoon, encouraged the government to open legal gambling dens in Thailand as it was, according to his statement, a part of ‘human nature’.
Chat Taopoon, who was also the leader of the Thai Local Power Party, stated earlier this week, February 14th, during a local seminar on the conservation of cockfighting traditions in Nakhon Ratchasima that it was impossible to solve the gambling problem by prohibiting Thai people from gambling because it was a part of human nature that desires challenging, betting, and winning.
He told reporters: “Gambling dens in Thailand should be legally arranged rather than asking people in the whole country to stop gambling because that was not possible. Chasing and arresting gambling dens every day would not work either, in my opinion.”
“If you asked me whether the idea of a legal casino would be possible in this country or not, I believe that there were a lot of opportunities as I was also discussing the issue with members of the House of Representatives, and they all gave me their full support.”
According to the underground gambling influencer, the proposal of legalizing casinos had been proposed to the government for about two or three months and would take some time to receive feedback from the related departments.
“I was not interested to take part or become an important part of making the legal casino possible. I was only trying my best to help Thai brothers and sisters who were in trouble. If I was selected by locals to become one of the members of parliament to work on this project or whatever job it was going to be in the parliament, then I would,” he concluded.
