The following is our weekly feature in which we ask our readers a news topical question and get their insight and opinions. We then share their feedback a week later and pick a variety of diverse and interesting responses.
This week, we are back to tackling a major news item: Closing times of bars in Pattaya. Due to Covid-19 restrictions places currently close at 11:00 P.M. and many business owners have claimed this is too early for a nightlife centric city.
However, before Covid-19 officials were looking hard at 4 AM for Pattaya as an official closing time. (keep in mind we aren’t talking about unofficial or what isn’t hard enforced etc.)
Pattaya is a special administrative zone and as a result is normally allowed to stay open later and sell alcohol than the rest of the country which is midnight in most places. This time differs depending on the part of the city but can be as late as 3:00 A.M. officially.
This status, however, is suspended under the current emergency decree to control the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
So, what do YOU think? What time should bars legally close? Should there even be a legal closing time? Let us know in comments, on our social media or mail us at Pattayanewseditor@gmail.com. we look forward to hearing from you and will publish the results next week.
