13-year-old motorbike driver dies after allegedly driving through red light and colliding with pickup truck in Chonburi

Chonburi –

A 13-year-old driver has been pronounced at the scene after his motorbike, which he was allegedly driving through a red light, collided with a pickup truck last night (February 9th).

The Nongyai Police was notified of the accident at 8:30 P.M. at the Nong Suea Chang intersection in the Nongyai sub-district.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck. The motorbike was stuck under the truck.

A Thirteen-year-old boy was found unconscious nearby. He was rushed to a local hospital but was later tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Jirayut Pinrat, 35, told Nongyai police, “The boy was driving through the red light at very high speed.”

Nongyai police are reviewing CCTV nearby to determine the sequence of events in the accident and have contacted the boy’s parents. This is the third young teenager killed in the Chonburi area in the past several days in motorbike related accidents. Driving at this age is technically illegal, but not uniformly enforced across Thailand.
