Six Baccarat gamblers arrested in Chonburi, accused of offending the emergency decree

Chonburi-

Six Baccarat gamblers have been arrested over alleged offenses to the Thai emergency decree in the Pan Thong district.

The Pan Thong Police was notified of the alleged gambling via the LINE official application and website ‘Gambling Report’on weekend. This application is used for people to submit tips to, according to police, support their local community.

A tip came in from what was described as a “concerned citizen” afraid of the potential spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Police, responding to the tip, raided a room on Kreangsak Road in the Pan Thong sub-district.

Six gamblers had reportedly been arrested while they were playing illegal Baccarat online.

They are facing charges of playing illegal gambling games and gathering in a small place which offends the emergency decree.

Penalties for the violation of this law, in effect due to the Covid-19 situation in Thailand, are strict with high fines and potential jail time.
