Cooler weather, thunderstorms set for much of upper Thailand over next several days

Thailand-

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of thunderstorms, at times possibly severe, over much of upper Thailand over the next several days.

This will also result in cooler temperatures, including for the Eastern Thailand area. Although heavy storms are unlikely in the Eastern provinces, such as Chonburi, home of the Pattaya News, scattered showers and cooler weather are predicted by the TMD.

According to the Thai Meteorological Department:

During the next three days, February 7th to the 9th, a westerly trough will move over the North, the upper Northeast, and the Central parts of Thailand while southerly and southeasterly winds bring moisture from the Gulf and the South China Sea to the lower Northeast, the lower Central, the East including Bangkok and its vicinity.

Thunderstorms with strong wind gusts and hail are likely over upper Thailand. After this period, from February 10th to the 12th, cool to cold weather is expected in the upper part of Thailand with the temperature decreasing by 4-6 °C in the North and the Northeast while a 2-4 °C drop in temperature is forecasted in the Central, and the East including Chonburi.

The TMD has warned those in the Upper North and Northeast especially to be aware of potentially strong storms over the next several days and to be prepared. On the bright side, for those in Bangkok and Chonburi, the cooler weather and wind are expected to help with the air pollution that has been a thorn in the side of local residents for several weeks now.
