A student who was driving home from school has been pronounced dead at the scene after his motorbike was crushed by a truck in Mueang Chonburi.

The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the accident at 5:30 P.M. yesterday (February 6th) near a temple in the Napa sub-district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of the boy aged 18-years-old. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Nearby, rescue workers found his motorbike under a ten wheel truck.

The boy’s friend told emergency responders that they were on the way home from school on different motorbikes.

The truck driver, Somchai Wankam, 34, told Pattaya News reporters, “There were two motorbikes who were racing. One of them lost control of his motorbike. I tried to stop but the motorbike was driving very fast.”

The boy’s friend declined to comment on the accusations regarding racing. Neither the boy not his friend were named to the press.

Chonburi police are checking CCTV nearby to determine the exact sequence of events that caused the accident.
