Chonburi –
Pattaya business operators are supporting an idea from Phuket business operators who are planning to buy Covid-19 vaccines for the hospitality sector in hopes of speeding up the ability to bring back tourists.
Mr. Sinchai Wattanasartsathorn, former president of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association (PBTA) who is now an executive of the Flipper Hotel Group told the press, âPhuket business operators are planning to use their own money to buy Covid-19 vaccines for their service staff via private hospitals.â
âWe think this is a good idea because we are not sure if the vaccines that the government will be providing are enough for all the people.â
âIt will also take until the end of this year, according to the Thai government, for 70 percent of Thai people to get the vaccine. We want to speed this process up significantly and get tourism moving again.â
âWe know that many private hospitals have already bought some vaccines from other countries but are now in the process of getting certifications from the Ministry of Public Health.â
âWe have discussed about this idea with relevant officials in Pattaya if we could do this.â Sinchai concluded.
The Pattaya Mayor, Sonthaya Khunpluem, has already said that if Pattaya City gains permission the city plans to vaccinate their local population to also attempt to speed up the return of tourism.
