Thailand discovered 573 domestic infections out of 586 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, CCSA deputy spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, February 5th.
A total of 526 domestic cases were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 522, Phetchaburi 3, and Sa Kaeo 1 during proactive case finding in major factories and local communities, primarily migrant worker dormitories. All of the patients are now at provincial state quarantine and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.
The other 47 infections were found in Samut Sakhon with 26, Bangkok with 18, and Tak 3. They are both Thai and migrant workers from Myanmar and are now isolated at local hospitals for treatment. Today’s youngest case was found in a 3-month-old baby girl from Samut Sakhon.
The early information around the Bangkok cases that were given was that the cases stemmed from a private work party where many people gathered to drink and shared buckets of alcohol. More details on this are still coming out.
As of today, 533 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 22,644 cases with 15,331 recoveries and a total of 79 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
