1. Schools nationwide in Thailand, except Samut Sakhon, set to be reopened on February 1st, following recent order of the Ministry of Education
This week has marked the first week of in-class teaching in most areas of Thailand since the start of 2021. All educational institutions nationwide, except Samut Sakhon, were allowed to be reopened for teaching in classrooms under strict compliance with public health restrictions. Meanwhile, schools in Samut Sakhon, which the CCSA still lists as the highest and strictest control zone, can only provide electronic teaching and learning or long-distancing learning.
2. Thai house of representatives votes to remove kratom from prohibited narcotics list
Kratom is becoming another narcotic drug to be removed from the illegal narcotic list. The revocation, according to Justice Minister, allows people to consume the herb legally without restrictions. This will not be implemented until 90 days after the announcement in the Royal Gazette. Meanwhile, the law will need to be further developed in order to prevent access and substance abuse among teenagers and drug users.

3. CCSA, chaired by Thai Prime Minister, announces easing of Covid-19 restrictions in all provinces in Thailand, effective in early February
Due to the lower case of Covid-19 infections nationwide, the CCSA then decided to relax health measures, especially reopening of some business operations, depending on the severity of the outbreak. The significant easing of restrictions includes the extending of hours of dine-in restaurants in the highest controlled and controlled provinces from 9:00 PM. to 11:00 PM. 4. Public Health Minister addresses concerns over possible delay on AstraZeneca vaccine import and distribution in Thailand
The plan to receive the first-authorized Covid-19 vaccination in Thailand might be delayed by one month due to the disputation between Oxford-AstraZeneca and the European Union. The Public Health Minister said that the problem was unfortunate and beyond the control of the Thai government and Thai officials. The government had no choice but to wait until the discussion and agreement between both parties are made.
5. Thai Prime Minister overjoyed that Thailand is listed as the fourth country in the world in handling the Covid-19 Coronavirus outbreak by Lowy Institute
