Samut Sakhon-
Authorities in the epicenter of the recent Covid-19 cluster of infections in the province are continuing to perform thousands of tests for the virus on a daily basis, mostly targeting a single sub-district that is the only sub-district in the Krathum Baen district that still is finding cases of Covid-19.
The sub-district is Khlong Maduea in the Krathum Baen district and is home to many industrial factories and migrant worker camps where thousands of migrant workers live and work in densely packed communities with little social distancing and sharing of facilities.
Authorities from the Thailand Department of Public Health are testing around 2,000 people a day currently this week in the sub-district and other parts of Samut Sakhon, down from 10,000 a day last week which spanned a larger area and was designed to pinpoint the problem areas, which authorities believe they have now done.
Nearly all of those found positive in the province for Covid-19 are asymptomatic, according to Samut Sakhon Provincial authorities.
Testing will continue on a daily basis as officials from the Public Health Office are determined to find all asymptomatic cases and quarantine them in field hospitals for fourteen days. In Thailand, anyone who is positive for Covid-19, even asymptomatic, must be quarantined at a hospital or special facility.
