Thailand reported 816 domestic cases among 836 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases with two additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweesin Visanuyothin announced this morning, February 2nd.
Thailand’s 78th death was a 75-year-old Thai woman from Samut Sakhon with underlying diseases of high blood pressure and dyslipidemia. She sought a Covid-19 test on January 25th after her husband tested positive for the virus. Her result showed Covid-19 positive on the 28th when she started suffering from fatigue and constant breathing issues. She was taken and isolated at Samut Sakhon hospital.
Her condition became worse as she continued to have breathing difficulty and other severe symptoms. The female patient was pronounced dead on January 30th.
The 79th death was a 68-year-old Thai man who had a travel history to Samut Sakhon. He was reportedly having a runny nose, cough, and muscle pain on December 30th, 2020. He tested positive for Covid-19 on January 7th, 2021.
He was then taken to a local hospital where he was being treated for nearly one month before he was pronounced dead on February 1st at around 1:00 A.M.
Regarding the domestic infections, 109 of them were discovered mostly in Samut Sakhon with 99, followed by Bangkok 7, Samut Songkram 2, and Nonthaburi 1. Most of them are migrant workers and are asymptomatic. The youngest case was discovered in a 26-day-old infant in Samut Sakhon.
The other 710 infections were found in Samut Sakhon with 688 and Bangkok with 22 via proactive case finding at local communities, primarily migrant worker dormitories at factories. All of them are now at provincial state quarantine and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.
As of today, 703 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 20,454 cases with 13,217 recoveries and a total of 79 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
