Thai Cabinet officially approves “Rao Chana” cash handout program and another round of “Half-Half” co-payment registration

The Cabinet today, January 19, has officially approved the new cash handout campaign known as “Rao Chana” (We win in the Thai language), which will distribute 3,500 baht per month to cover 31 million Thai people affected by the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha told reporters after the online cabinet meeting this afternoon that the “Rao Chana” program (“We Win”) has been approved to stimulate the economy and financially heal Thai people who have been affected by the new coronavirus outbreak.

A total amount of 7,000 baht, 3,500 baht for each month, will be given to approximately 31.1 million people, particularly self-employed workers, freelancers, and farmers (informal workers). The registration will be opened from January 29th to February 12th through the website. www.เราชนะ.com.

Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith further explained that the qualified applicants for the “Rao Chana” program must be as follows:

1.) Thai nationals who are over the age of eighteen

2.) Not registered under section 33 (Essentially, if the individual is eligible for social security payouts they cannot apply.)

3.) Not working as a government official and/or a civil servant

4.) Not currently accepting pension or any types of allowance from the government

5.) Not earning more than 300,000 thousand baht a year

6.) Not having a total amount of deposit money in their bank accounts for more than 500,000 baht

Additionally, the Cabinet also approved another registration round for the second phase of the ‘Half-Half’ co-payment scheme for 1.34 million new applicants. The program will be opened for registration tomorrow, January 20, morning at www.คนละครึ่ง.com
