The Rayong Public Health Department this afternoon (January 18th) announced one new confirmed case of the Covid-19 Coronavirus in Rayong.
Rayong now has a total of 565 cases of Covid-19 with one death. The man, aged 45, worked at a high risk place in Rayong. He had personal health issues disclosed as diabetes and heart disease.
Of those 565, 530 are Thais, while 35 are foreigners/migrant workers.
The Rayong Governor, Mr. Channa Eiamsang, told the local media, “Please be noted that the province is currently working on an active case finding plan which will check the risk level of various high-risk groups.”
“The province confirmed that all detained persons at home (Home Quarantine) and other placess (Local Quarantine) are not infected patients and we have have checked all close contacts of previous patients. As a result we now move to active case finding.”
“People and neighbors who stay nearby detention areas and field hospitals, please do not worry about it.” The Governor continued.
“The provincal measures are taking those people in high–risk groups for observing symptoms separately in order to reduce the chance of the spread of infections.”
“Being generous to help each other, living a new normal life and following the measures strictly will help us overcome this situation.” The Governor concluded.
The Governor did not comment on when restrictions currently closing many business venues and stopping travel to the province which is popular with domestic tourists would be lifted, only saying that the situation would continue to be monitored.
The Governor also did not go into depth on what comprised a high-risk group but it is primarily believed to be those exposed to illegal gambling and migrant workers who live in densely packed communities.
