The Director-General of the Religious Affairs Department encourages all Buddhists to pray in order to build a healthy state of mind to fight against various problems affected by the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
Kriengsak Bunprasit of the Department of Religious Affairs, under the Ministry of Culture, told reporters that the Department has issued a policy to refrain from organizing any activities in temples due to the second wave of Covid-19.
The Sheikhul Islam Office also issued an announcement to refrain from praying on Fridays, performing group activities, and attending mosques in the highest control areas of 28 provinces, according to the Director-General.
He continued that while the Department has to refrain from any activities that involve groups in temples, many people have also lost their business and jobs and some even became depressed during the economic instability due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Therefore, he would like to invite people to pray and recite the chants in order to know them by heart since prayers can be done anytime and anywhere.
Kriengsak said, expressing his opinion: “When you are encountering various problems in life, praying will calm your mind and you will receive help from the holy sacred powers who always protect you. Praying will also enhance one’s own fortune, peace of mind, self-concentration, and wisdom in thinking and doing things in life.”
“I’d like to recommend ‘Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta’, which is a chant that gives strength in fighting for victory over all obstacles, problems, and disasters, and ‘Potchangkaparit Sutta’, which is the Buddha teachings of lighting your heart, clearing your mind, and helping to eliminate the disease,” he concluded.
