RECAP: CCSA reports 131 domestic infections among 205 new cases in Thailand today

A total of 131 domestic infections among 205 new cases in Thailand were reported in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyuthin announced this morning, January 8th.

The 123 confirmed patients were found in Samut Sakhon 37, Bangkok 29, Samut Prakan 22, Chonburi 11, Ang Thong 4, Nakhon Pathom 4, Loei 4, Chiang Mai 4, Pathum Thani 1, Lamphun 1, Suphan Buri 1, Surat Thani 1, Lop Buri 1, Buriram 1, Krabi 1, and Samut Songkram 1.

The other 7 infections, particularly in Samut Prakan 3, Ang Thong 3, and Bangkok 1, are under disease investigation by provincial public health officials.

Additionally, about 58 patients in Samut Sakhon 21, Chonburi 21, Chanthaburi, and Rayong with 7 were found from active surveillance findings by officials in several health districts and are now under investigation, 90 percent of them are reportedly asymptomatic. The majority of these are migrant workers in “hard quarantined” areas.

Regarding the use of the ‘Moh Chana’ application, people are being highly encouraged to install the application on their smartphones, no penalty was charged for those who do not, according to the government officials today.

“The ‘Moh Chana’ application will facilitate and reduce the burden of medical officials when tracking infected patient’s travel records. However, if it is inconvenient for you to do so, you can write your records on paper. It works both ways,” the spokesperson stated.
