Thai Government announces overnight temporary closure of major motorways in high risk areas to help stop Covid-19 spread

Thailand-

The Thai Government announced this afternoon, January 7th, 2021, that several major motorways would be closed overnight until further notice to, in their words, help stop the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The two affected motorways are Bangkok-Chonburi-Pattaya (Number 7) and Bang Pa-In to Bang Phli (Number 9.)

The motorways will be closed from 10:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. to all traffic unless approved for special emergency purposes, like cargo delivery.  There will be regular checkpoints enforcing this rule.

Additionally, officials said CCTV cameras will help record potential violators and enforce the rules.

Alerts will go out on highway traffic applications as well to inform motorists.
