Samut Sakhon governor tests positive for Covid-19 Coronavirus, Public Health Minister categorized in risk group

Samut Sakhon governor Wirasak Wichitsaengsi has tested positive for Covid-19 Coronavirus while Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is categorized in a high-risk group after jointly attending a meeting at the province yesterday, CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin confirmed this morning, December 28.

Many Public Health secretaries and committee members are now among the high risk groups after attending a brief meeting at Samut Sakhon Hospital for an hour with the governor yesterday, one including Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Public Health Permanent Secretary, Kiartiphum Wongrachit, and director-general of the Department of Disease Control, Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, had also participated in the meeting. All of the meeting attendees were reportedly wearing face masks at all times, according to Dr. Taweesin.

The Public Health Minister reportedly tested negative for the first SWAB test and is currently performing local quarantine at home for 14 days. He also canceled attending the Cabinet meeting tomorrow due to the isolation.
