Pattaya, Thailand-
The Pattaya Police, along with the Ministry of Public Health, conducted inspections on bars and entertainment venues in Pattaya last night to review Covid-19 protection and health measures.
At 10:00 p.m. last night, December 22nd, Mr. Pornchai Sang-iad, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, led the inspections. The Pattaya News recorded the inspections live as many of our readers watched the visits on our social media channels last evening. Pornchai was accompanied by a contingent of Pattaya and Banglamung police, tourist police and Ministry of Public Health officers.
The inspections were focused on several basic measures: Thai Cha-na platform check-ins at each venue, temperature checks being performed, hand sanitizer available and being given to patrons, mask wearing for all staff and patrons and proper social distancing standards being enforced.
The inspections were “educational” versus punitive, with officers giving tips and advice to venues that were not completely up to par versus punishing them with stiff fines. According to Mr. Pornchai, regular inspections will continue due to the current heightened situation with Covid-19 in Thailand due to a large cluster of Covid-19 infections being found in Samut Sakhon. Although Pattaya has had zero cases of Covid-19 linked to the current infections authorities are ensuring that all precautions are being taken.
The inspections took place in Tree Town, parts of Made in Thailand and Walking Street.
