Forgetful armed gold shop robber in Chonburi drops his mobile phone in mall after stealing 800,000 baht

Chonburi police has identified an armed gold shop robber at a mall in Mueang Chonburi who sped away with gold worth about 800,000 baht. He was identified as he dropped his mobile phone while running away after the robbery at the mall.

The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the incident at 8:20 PM last night (December 22nd) at a department store on Sukhumvit Road near Amata Nakhon in the Klong Tamru sub-district.

The suspect came into the gold shop posing as a customer. He asked to have a look at two gold bracelets and two necklaces worth about 800,000 baht.

After that he took out a handgun from his bag to threaten staffers before speeding away with the valuable items.

The Meaung Chonburi Police Chief Colonel Nitat Weanpradab told The Pattaya News this morning “The suspect forgetfully dropped a mobile phone near the gold shop while fleeing after the robbery.”

“The suspect is identified as Mr. Utit Puangthong, aged 44, from Koh Jan district in Chonburi. However, he is still on the run but will be arrested soon and we urge him to surrender before that happens as he has been positively identified.” Nitat concluded.
