Early morning fire heavily damages Japanese restaurant in Pattaya area

Fire has damaged a Japanese restaurant in Banglamung early this morning (December 19th).

Nongprue firefighters were notified of the fire at 3:00 A.M. at a restaurant in Soi Boonsampan.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the fire was heavily ablaze.

It took about twenty minutes to control the fire. The fire had started from a kitchen inside the restaurant.

A gas cylinder with a faulty valve was removed from the kitchen and according to Nongprue firefighters is believed to have been the source of the blaze. There were no injuries reported due to the incident.

The owner’s sister, who asked to not give her name, told The Pattaya News that the restaurant had been closed after 11:00 P.M. last night. No one was at the restaurant during the fire, according to her statement.

A security guard nearby told The Pattaya News he saw the fire spark up and he attempted to use a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze but failed. He then called authorities to assist with the fire. He stated that he heard several small explosions from the kitchen of the restaurant during the fire.

The cost of damages is estimated at about 200,000 baht, according to an initial inspection by firefighters and the owners. The exact cause of the fire, however, is still under investigation according to Nongprue Firefighters.
