Two German nationals to enter Thailand for business without performing state quarantine, CCSA approves yesterday

Bangkok –

Thailand’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, has approved to welcome two German nationals to Thailand for business without performing state quarantine but must be followed closely by Public Health authorities.

The decision was made yesterday, December 17th, following the request of the German personnel who were planning to enter the Kingdom without isolation to install machines in a factory. Further details such as the location of the factory and when they are scheduled to arrive were not disclosed to the press. The two foreigners will not be allowed to leave the factory, use public transportation or food services or go anywhere in the country open to the public.

The case, according to the CCSA, meets the conditions of the so-called Organizational Quarantine, in which the arrivals of the organization’s staff are only allowed to stay at the provided area of the factory and are responsible by the organization at their own costs.

However, the two foreigners must consent to other health measuring policies from the Public Health Ministry, including the installation of CCTV cameras for medical staff to monitor, tracking measures at all times, preventing quarantined people from leaving the premises and permission to have some of the public health staff closely monitoring them at all times.

There will also be periodic Covid-19 tests for the foreigners during their stay. Thai employees who work with them will be detained and quarantined for 14 days after the two foreigners return to their home country as soon as the installation is complete.

The CCSA believes that the case will be a good example of the Organizational Quarantine and to see if foreigners are willing to comply with Thai health measures into preventing the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

The Prime Minister also stressed at the meeting that the related authorities must build understanding with the people that the country’s reopening still has a lot of measures to go through and will be gradually relaxing depending on conditions.
