Three family members injured after driver falls asleep and collides with power pole in Chonburi

Three people in a family including a five-year-old girl have sustained various injuries after their pickup truck crashed into a power pole this morning (December 15th).

The Panthong Police was notified of the incident at 5:30AM on Panthong – Baan Kao Road in the Panthong district.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find three injured people inside the overturned silver pickup truck.

Three injured people who were named as Mr. Sane, 34, Burmese national, Ms. Laddawan Burutlieam, 29 and a five-year-old girl had sustained mostly minor injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for observation, although Mr. Sane declined medical assistance.

Sane told police that the family was coming back from buying and selling seafood at a local morning market. He admitted to falling asleep at the wheel before colliding into a power pole. He also told The Pattaya News that he lost a significant amount of his remaining fish due to the accident, which was found scattered across the roadway having spilled from various buckets in the back of the pickup truck.

Pan Thong police are going to review CCTV in the vicinity to confirm the story given to them by Mr. Sane.
