Man seriously injured after oil cannister explodes while he was cooking in Chonburi

Chonburi-

A Thai man has sustained serious injuries from burning after an oil cannister exploded while he was cooking at a building in Mueang Chonburi.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident earlier this week at a building on Phraya Satja Road in the Baan Suan sub-district.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Kittiphong Soithong, 22, from Buriram had sustained serious injuries from the explosion. Nearby, rescue workers found an oil cannister and a damaged rice cooking pot.

His elder brother, Mr. Jamras Soithong, 46, told The Pattaya News that his younger brother was cooking and had already lit up the fire.

He poured oil as fuel before the oil cannister suddenly exploded causing his brother to be thrown five meters away from the strength of the explosion, according to Jamras.

Mr. Jamras has warned other people to be careful when lighting up a fire and cooking. Relevant agencies are reportedly looking into the exact cause of the unexpected explosion.
