Two Day Pattaya Music Festival starts this Friday, complete schedule, road closures and things to know

Pattaya, Thailand-

The Pattaya Music Festival arrives Friday in Pattaya over a long holiday weekend bringing in two days of music, food, events and fun for the Pattaya area with city officials stating that the event is expected to bring thousands of domestic Thai visitors to the city.

Pattaya has been working on a program to hold significant events nearly every single weekend to drive domestic tourism to the city that has been hard hit by the lack of foreign tourists due to restrictions at borders and Covid-19 measures taken in the Kingdom of Thailand. So far, it appears to be working at recent events like the Fireworks weekend and Loy Krathong/Halloween.  This weekend local hotel operators are reporting to the Pattaya News advance bookings at very high numbers, especially located on Pattaya Beach

Beach Road will be closed to traffic from the Dolphin Roundabout to Soi 10 from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM on both Friday December 11th and Saturday December 12th. Central Pattaya Klang will be closed from Second Road to Pattaya Beach. There will be four stages in total, three on Pattaya Beach and one on Jomtien Beach.

Additionally, dozens of food vendors, culture shows and other attractions will be set up on Pattaya Beach and Central Festival is expected to have their own smaller stage and features.

Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplueme has said that changes will take place from the recent Fireworks Festival which saw a crowd estimated by city officials in the tens of thousands cause major traffic jams and concerns around social distancing and Covid-19 protection measures.  With several domestic cases of Covid-19 being detected mostly in the far North of Thailand due to illegal border crossing the Mayor has said that the city is focused on ensuring the event and concerts are safe. He has stated that all participants must wear masks and wash their hands frequently and that the city will have screening checkpoints including temperature checks at each of the main stages and social distancing measures.

Traffic changes include leaving portions of Beach Road open past Soi Ten to allow traffic to flow more naturally, the Mayor added.

The schedule of bands and performance times is below, the schedule is subject to change. Admission is free. Drones and food vendor carts are banned from the event, although food vendor tents and stalls will be set up. The exact set times are NOT specifically announced, although should begin at 5:00 PM shortly after road closures. Stage 4, the yellow stage, will be on Jomtien Beach.
