On February 18, Danusorn entered a beauty clinic on the fourth floor of Century Plaza at the Victory Monument, where his former wife Piyanut Chatthai, 28, was working. He opened fire with a pistol, shooting her dead with multiple bullet wounds to her head and shooting her co-worker, Wilasinee Thipan, in the left wrist.

The shooter then fled to a village near Kaeng Krachan national park in Phetchaburi, where he was apprehended on the following day after the shooting rampage.

Manhunt launched for man who killed his ex lover and injured one other woman in mall shooting this afternoon in Bangkok

Police Lieutenant General Pakapong Pongpetra, the Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner, said during the investigation in February that the couple had a decade-long relationship and had a son, but had recently separated.

There was no argument between the two prior to the killing. The gunman already planned to kill the woman at the clinic before fleeing on a motorcycle, he stated.

The Criminal Court was presented with water-tight evidence and found Danusorn guilty as charged and sentenced him to death. The sentence was commuted to life imprisonment because he had confessed. He was also ordered to pay a total of 521,200 baht compensation, plus 7.5% interest, to the victim’s family.
