Feature: Reader Talkback: What is, in your opinion, the most important issue to resolve currently in Pattaya?

The following is our weekly feature in which once a week at the start of the week we ask our readers a news worthy question and get your insights, responses and comments.

This week, we want to ask our readers what, in your opinion, is the most important issue to resolve currently in Pattaya?

There are a lot of plans and things “in the works” and we will list a few below to give our readers ideas but even if the issue is not on the list, feel free to mail us or give us your comments. Also, we are focusing on city specific plans within the control of city leaders right now and will bring the results to them at an upcoming meeting. Things the city cannot control, like opening borders to foreign tourists, customer service issues at businesses or drink prices at bars should not be on the list.

Some of the issues Pattaya City is currently working on/planning/discussing, both short and long term. Not all of these items are guaranteed to happen, while some are already approved, in process and/or being started. This is not a complete list, so if you think of something or feel something is not mentioned please comment.

-Jomtien Beach expansion of sand

-Completion of public park near Riviera in Na Jomtien

-Monorail Plan

-Cruise ship terminal

-Pattaya Beach improvement (public toilets, more trees, sitting places, etc.)

-Walking Street modernization (several plans on the agenda here, but most involve improving the look and feel of the street, perhaps adding a roof over the road, new pavement, lighting, etc. The eventual plan is to still let it to be a hub for nightlife, according to Pattaya City Hall, but they want it to be a daytime street as well for shopping, etc.)

-Event planning for 2021 to encourage domestic tourism

-Improvement of Pier area on Koh Larn

-Improvement of Bali Hai Pier, fixing the broken fountain and other areas

-Finally tearing down the abandoned waterfront condo on Bali Hai Pier

-A refurbishment and improvement of the park around the Pattaya sign, to possibly include a glass skywalk

-Handling/resolving the stray animal problem in Pattaya that became a bigger issue after the Covid-19 pandemic

-Traffic accident management, decrease number of fatalities and injuries in Pattaya and Chonburi

-Resolving road construction and paving issues

-Resolving pavement issues on sidewalks and walkways around Pattaya

-Resolving alleged land encroachment issues on Koh Larn

-Complete the planned incinerator work for garbage disposal on Koh Larn

-Fix and upgrade the CCTV system across the city to provide a better, faster network
