Man drowns in Banglamung lagoon searching for shellfish

Banglamung-

A man drowned in a lagoon in Banglamung searching for shellfish earlier this week.

The Banglamung Police was notified of the incident at 2:30 PM on Thursday (November 26th) at a lagoon in Soi Takeantia 24 in the Takeantia sub-district.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the lagoon which is about two meters deep.

Nearby, rescue workers found clothes and a bucket with shellfish inside. It took about forty minutes of searching before the body was found. His body was pulled up from the water.

The body was identified as Mr Suraphon Suwasri, 54.

His wife, Mrs. Thongsuk Suwasri, 44, said, “My husband used to search for shellfish in this lagoon on a regular basis.”

At this stage, police believed that Mr. Suraphon had a cramp while he was in the water before drowning as he was reportedly an experienced swimmer.
