Several government offices will be closed this Thursday and Friday, November 19th and the 20th, as they have been announced as special public holidays to help boost domestic tourism in the country.

The four-day special long weekend, from 19-22 November, had been approved by the Cabinet in September. The substitution holiday of Father’s Day of December 7 is also moved to the 11th to offer another four-day weekend from December 10th to the 13th.

All bank branches, both main ones and ones in shopping centers, will remain open according to the announcement of the Bank of Thailand last month in order to financially facilitate domestic tourists to travel across the country. They will be closed on normal substitution holidays on December 7th and the 11th.

The first additional holiday this year was the Songkran substitute holiday on September 4th to 7th, when a number of domestic tourists had been traveling in Thailand and potentially injecting tens of millions of baht. The Government then approved two more long weekend substitutions, expecting that they will benefit the domestic economy again by the end of the year.
