National –
The Thai Cabinet has approved a waiver of three motorway toll fees for 12 days in total during the long-weekend substitute holidays in November and December this year, the Transport Minister confirmed yesterday.
Toll fees will be excluded on Motorway 7 from Bangkok to Pattaya, National Highway 34 which leads to Chon Buri, Laem Chabang Port and Pattaya, as well as Motorway 9 from between Phra Pradaeng-Bang Khae, Phra Pradaeng-Bang Khunthian and Bang Pa In-Bang Phli.
The fee waivers are for two periods, from 1:00 AM on November 18th to 12:00 AM of the 23rd and from 1:00 AM of December 9th to 12:00 AM of the 14th.
Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob told the Associated Press that the waivers will potentially reduce traffic jams and facilitate all road users during long holidays.
It is also reported that Bangkok’s Burapha Withi Expressway between Bang Na-Chonburi and Kanchanaphisek Expressway from Bang Phli-Suksawat, which are under the authority of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), will not be collecting toll fees during the aforementioned long weekends as well.
The proposal is in response to the cabinet’s approval of extra holidays on November 19-22 and December 10-13 to stimulate the domestic economy.
