UPDATED TIMELINE: Indian man with positive Covid-19 local case visited Phuket, Chiang Mai and Sukhothai

Krabi, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Thailand-

An Indian man, 37, who lives on Phi Phi Island in Krabi and is a new recorded local transmission of the COVID – 19 virus in Thailand, had visited Phuket, Chiang Mai and Sukhothai in the past few weeks.

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration or CCSA announced an Indian man as a new case of domestic transmission in Krabi on Saturday (November 7th).

Public health officials yesterday (November 8th) reports that there are now in total 290 people who have close contact with the Indian man during the past fourteen days. Seventy nine of them are considered “high-risk”.

Epidemiology Bureau director Walairat Chaifu said, The Indian man left Phi Phi Island in Krabi to go to Phuket on October 28th.

He flew to Chiang Mai on October 30th. He drove to Sukhothai on October 31st for the Loy Krathong festival before flying back to Phuket on November 2nd.

He visited a department store in Phuket city before going back to Phi Phi Island on November 4th.

However, Disease Control Department Director-General Opas Karnkawinpong said that only small amounts of the virus have been found in the Indian man.

He believes that COVID-19 has not been wide spread from the Indian patient to people who had contact with him. Additionally, extremely high risk contacts including three people who live with the man have so far tested negative.

The patient remains in quarantine at a Krabi hospital and is completely asymptomatic, added Opas.
