1. Pro-democracy march to German Embassy to submit controversial petition

The demonstration has uplifted its pressure by demanding a thorough investigation of a controversial topic of Thailand’s highest institution following the Prime Minister’s refusal to step down. A massive crowd was marching to the German Embassy to submit an open letter merely requesting Germany to investigate whether His Royal Majesty the King has conducted Thai politics using his royal prerogative from German soil or not since such action could be considered a violation of Germany’s territorial sovereignty. The embassy representative stated that they will look into the issue but it has no reports revealed regarding the issue as of today.

2. Thailand to welcome roughly 650 foreign tourists from overseas yachts that will travel to Thailand after government grants permission

The Center of Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has officially opened to more tourists visiting the country by welcoming overseas yachts passengers to dock in Thailand’s territory. 3. Thai Cabinet officially extends emergency decree to end of November

This may not sound surprising as Thailand has been extending the Emergency Decree to prevent the local transmission of Covid-19 Coronavirus, in theory. Thai Government stressed that the decree is mandatory in order to properly manage the quarantine process and maintain low cases of local transmission since the Covid-19 situation around the globe is still intense. The decree, however, does not relate to the political tensions and movements of the pro-democracy demonstrations in the country, according to the Government.

4. Thai Parliament considering planning to form reconciliation committee to resolve ongoing political conflict

After a two-day special parliamentary session, the Thai Government has eventually agreed to establish a reconciliation committee to resolve uprising political conflicts. The occasional committee will consist of 7 pro-government and opposition parties to discuss the potential solutions for the country. It will possibly be considering a charter amendment bill proposed by the non-profit organization iLaw last September. However, many people believe that the reconciliation committee remains hopelessly unhelpful to solve the ongoing conflicts in the country.

5. Thailand announces “Smart Band” mandatory tracking device for foreign tourists who visit the country during Covid-19 pandemic

The proposal is being discussed and approved by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O’Cha during the Cabinet meeting last week. The device, developed by the Digital Ministry and Thai startups, aims to track foreigners’ locations and measure their body’s temperature to detect any possible trace of Covid-19 during their stay in Thailand. It will also help the wearers with various problems in case they were lost or need special assistance in the Alternative State Quarantine. The “Smart Band” will be developed and initially applied to a limited group of incoming tourists traveling under Special Tourists Visa (STV) on November 1 onwards.
