Passenger sitting on table in back of pickup truck dies at Pattaya area curve

A passenger who was sitting on a wooden table on the back of a pickup truck has died after the table toppled from the pickup truck while taking a curve in Banglamung yesterday afternoon (October 25th).

Lieutenant Colonel Noppadon Raksawaong of the Nongprue Police was notified of the accident at 3:30 PM on Wat Tuanthong Road in the Pong sub-district.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Weera Sangsawang, 58, on the side of the road.

Two large wooden tables were found lying on the road. The driver, Mr. Eakkaluck Kettjong, 28, was waiting for police at the scene.

He told police that they were bringing tables to a temple nearby. Mr. Weera was sitting on the stack of tables on the back of the pickup truck.

When they arrived at a curve in the road, the tables on the back slid off the pickup truck, with Mr. Weera sitting on them. Mr. Weera toppled off the table and truck, suffering a severe head injury.

The tables did not appear to have been properly secured with ropes or belts according to investigative police. They did not comment on if any potential legal charges would be filed against Mr. Eakkaluck
